The practice of taking the placenta although ancient is only now being appreciated and praised by the scientific/medical community. The placenta holds abundant nutrients and hormones that help return mothers body back to a state of balance in a natural and recognizable fashion for the body. Some of the benefits include:

I use either the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Method or the Raw method depending on my your preferences.

In TCM it is believed that labor and delivery leaves you with a cold empty space (yin) and needs to be balanced by warm/hot herbs (yang) and so the steaming of the placenta with lemon, ginger and chili helps nourish mother in the postpartum period.

With the Raw Method, I prepare the placenta using temperatures under 118 degrees and it's believed that this method preserves more of the nutrients and hormones that mother needs to restore balance after delivery.

I use veggie caps for both methods.
